Why do you worry what others think? You are the parent. You are in control.

I would get him into a drug rehabilitation program and assert your control as parent.

Cheers for your courage!

well this is a difficult one. i had this same problem with my step son a few years ago. being a parent is a tough job, but one we can never quit. even though you say you have turned away, i think we both know if you knew you could sincerely help him you would. finding a way to do that is the hard part. i mean you can't hold his hand, there are things he has to learn on his own. i think you are doing the right thing, just let him know how disappointed you are about what he is doing, and let him know you love him, and will be there when he decides to change, but won't do anything to help him until then. good luck, wish i could help you more.
