I found this. It seems to indicate that this is generally true. "She too, connected human behavior and overweight pets: ''We overfeed ourselves and we overfeed our pets.'' So I guess I answered my own question.

in my opinion , yes , if the owner can't or won't exercise the animal then you end up with an overweight pet

That's hilarious, I have never heard that one before, but usually fat owners have kids that seem to be overweight along with the dog because a fat owner doesn't want to restrict anyone or put anyone on a diet from any food, they feel more easy and let everyone including the pet go to crap, so for the majority of people I have seen, you are right, b/c the fat people I know that own a dog let the dog eat just as much garbage as their kids

No, i frequent a dog park with over 200 regular visitors, and there are a mix of owner-dog combos. WHile very few of the enormous owners take the time to walk around the park with the dogs, the dogs themselves run around a lot. I guess the dogs learn to play on their own without being dependant on mom or dad to go with them.

LOL, im laughing hard at this question.... I have a client that is one of the biggest guys I've ever seen, who spoils his 5 pound pomeranian that is in really excellent shape.......

But for the most part.... the fatter the dog... the fatter the owner..... The fatter the cat... the skinnier the female owner, the bigger the male owner (w many excpetions, just a gross generalization)

yes. Seems like human nature to me if the human likes food, and loves the pet, then the human will probably give extra food to the pet. I don't think it works in reverse.

Ha, ha, ha, he, he, he, sooooooooo LMFAO right now. Thank you for tickling my funny bone on that question. LOL LOL LOL

I myself don't believe that is true. I was very skinny when I had my two cats. One was a little heavier due to the fact he was a different breed and my dog was actually heavier than me because he was a cross between a Rotti and Black Lab.

Please, don't believe everything you hear, just take in what you need and throw the rest away.

Peace

Nope quite a few of my friends are skinny and have obese cats. My friend Michelle has 2 fat cats 19 lbs and 24 lbs and Michelle is very thin :-)

I doubt it...Im sure there are some owners who are "fatter" than their pets vice versa or maybe even equally fat, but I dont think its a true fact...

Uhhh hmm very good question! Now that I think about it, thats soooo scary! Ok Im so serious... my cat, Nala, used to be skinny and I used to be skinny as well. But then I gained weight and look better and then she gained weight and looks better too. I swear to you Im being serious and now thats just kinda weird and scary!!!!

So to answer your question... MAYBE that may be true!
