Have you ever had a non-tapper?

I don't think I've ever had a non-tapper and I've owned gerbils for over 20 years.

He tapped once and he has hit maturity. He's about 8 months old. I don't go around trying to scare him or pushing him to date so... Any ideas?

The tapping is an alarm sound given to warn other Gerbils (but you know that and others that read this might not). Most of the Gerbils I have had did tap from one reason or another, you just may have one that is not as excitable.
I can remember when Gerbils were first introduced into the pet trade (early'60's) and did NOT require a water bottle and got their water from the grain that they ate ONLY. I would venture to guess that the "wild" instincts are being breed out of them and eventually there will be no more "tapping" Gerbils.

tapping out means submission, like in wrestling. have you been wrestling your gerbil?
