Do You Remember?

Your first memory

so far only one person has gotten the question think about it a little before you answer i'll reveal what i mean in the best answer so if you vote keep in eye out on what i mean.

Technically i believe the first memory one would have is as the mind begins to develop in the womb or the doc spanking you when you were born, but obviously that would be virtualy impossilbe to remember something like that I guess i just wasn't clear enough in my words lol.

well if its a memory then surely i must remember it. im not talking about first memory EVER, because it might have BEEN a memory, but not anymore. If it is currently a memory then I of course, remember it. The hard part is figuring out which came first..

I think its virtualy impossible to know what your very first memory is or ever was.When you think of memories from a long time ago, you know its been long since, but you aren't always sure of the chronological order of the events. Also, its absolutely impossible to determine a child's fist memory ever, because they are too young to tell you (only one memory=no language or communication skills), and because they all start remembering (and also forgetting) things at different times.


Interesting question though! Really got me thinking.

I remember being about 2 years old, and walking to the water reservoir on the farm with my dad & my uncle. Then we were swimming and they were tossing me up in the air. I also remember being around that age and stubbing my toe so bad the skin peeled off. And being about 18 months old when it snowed. I remember being wrapped up in a blanket and being put into the car, and seeing snowflakes on the floor of the car. Those are the earliest memories I have.

I believe I was 2 1/2 or 3 yrs old. Completely covered in poison ivy and crying while my mom rubbed some kind of anti-itch cream on me. Next memory was at about 5 yrs old.

well no only because I can't remember my first memory unless I had a memory or knowledge of the very first occurances in my life- which I do not have. The human brain also needs to grow over a period of time before it develops the ability to store memories- or least memories significant enough for us to recell decades later. Plus the fact that our mind alters and deletes many occurances in our life skews what one might deem their first memory. Look at movies that represent births as flashback as well- everyone has a different indication of those early occurances unless they are dictated by a person who was there-

One of the first memories that I have was at about 3 or younger, I running around the edge of the local pool and slipping and falling in, would have drowned if one of the nice ladies that were looking on hadn't come and pulled me out.
I don't remember who it was who pulled me out but I thank them in my mind every time I think of the memory.

as a baby (2 maybe 3 yrs old) sitting on my daddy's lap in a rocking chair on the porch, listening to him sing (if I could hear my momma sing again) and playing his harmonica.. those were the days ((:
