Long story short, my best friend's husband has azoospermia, no sperm. She hasn't had her period in over a month. She took a pregnancy test that said negative. She is in her 30's and so is he. They've been together for 3 years and never used protection. She is with me tonight and nervous she may be pregnant so I am trying to ease her concerns. Could she still be pregnant if her husband has had azoospermia all his life? Could he suddenly have sperm?

I doubt that she is pregnant. The chances are really low especially if he has azoospermia. Missed menustration can be caused from a number of different things other than pregnancy such as stress, change in diet, or her cycle may be becoming irregular. If she is concerned the best thing too do, is go to the dr and see what she can tell her about it. I wish her the best of luck and best wishes!!

It is unlikely that he suddenly has sperm, but maybe instead of NO sperm, he has a really low sperm count, so low that when they tried to diagnose his fertility, there weren't enough to count. She may have amenorrhia for other reasons than pregnancy, menopause (its really early but it is not uncommon for a woman to skip periods throughout her 30s), stress, worry about being pregnant. It is unlikely that she is pregnant, but if she has missed a period, she should be able to get an accurate result from a home pregnancy test. She shouldn't worry too much now. I would say, just take a pregnancy test, buy one with two tests and if her period doesn't come, test again a week later. If it is still negative, don't worry, a missed period is not really uncommon. If she has no period again next month, make an appointment with her doctor and see what's up. Best wishes.

I'm not a doctor...but I'm in my 30's and my cycle has been 28 days clockwork since I was 10... I am suddenly starting to miss cycles...and everything is changing...could be stress, could be early start of menopause, could be an ovarian cyst, or she could have just had an anovulatory cycle -which means she did not ovulate....if you don't ovulate, you don't menstruate...she should call her doc for a blood test just b/c anything is possible, and if it is still negative, they might put her on provera to start a period and get her cycle back on track...
Re: the sperm... I'm not familiar with that condition, but my husband was told he had very immature sperm and would not conceive.... we have a daughter.
