the swimming from one island to another : troublesome decisions .. weighing out pros and cons..
the raft : trying to keep the relationship together (afloat- but in danger)
sharks and bf w/raft : Outside influence/ possible danger to relationship causing you harm- boyfriend
wants to protect you, but doesn't know how..
you falling, wanting to give up : You sensed a problem, not knowing what or how to reach him emotionally. He felt your pain- from his distancing..
bf saved you : In essence he did.. his breaking up was making a decision, he knew he could not commit at this time to you, remorse.. expectations too great.
you on surface : He wanted to put you back where he found you.. safe.. that is the greatest gift someone leaving can give to another.. look at as a blessing...
give him space.. he has something he needs to workout on his own.. he's hurting.. but able to cope
it's not about you..
it is about him..
good luck..

I had a professor of psychology that absolutely believed that dreams were the way that your subconscious self is able to not only work problems out, but could be used as a way of detecting problems. She also believed that your dreams could be analyzed and certain markers could be found regarding situations in the future that should be cause for concern or caution. Check out some dream books - they are really interesting although I think that you will find that dream content on the surface is not always what is trying to get through to you. For example, when I have dreams that contain spiders, she feels that they don't actually represent spiders but that my life seems to be out of control. So spiders in my dreams, so she says, are a warning that I am on the brink of being out of control. Hope this helps. I believe that she would say that you can not take your dream in the literal sense but that there are symbolisms to be analyzed.

Sounds like anxiety about your work/school/personal life. You feel safe only with your boyfriend and the two of you seem to be in it against the world. I would guess the sharks are your coworkers or fellow students or even family if you are in a relationship your folks don't approve of...You see your boyfriend as a lifeline and a hero, but it's just a dream and he obviously is just another person like you and me, trying to save himself from the sharks. Sometimes the effort of life is something best spent alone; we have to be able to save ourselves (grow up?) before we endeavor saving others. Maybe your boyfriend couldn't handle the pressure of two lives resting on his narrow shoulders...

Dreams are best interpreted by the dreamer himself or herself. They are intensely personal and individual manifestations of your sub-conscious thought processes and feelings that you may not sometimes want to acknowledge in your conscious state (even to yourself). I am inclined to feel that your relationship with your boyfriend was drowning, and all the sharks perhaps stood for the various problem areas in your relationship. There may have been unresolved issues that only you would know about. The fact that you felt that you did not have the energy (may be the inclinantion even) to swim back might mean that in your heart of hearts you did not wish to save this relationship, and staying in it was equivalent to drowning (were you losing your sense of self/ your identity with your bf around?). From that perspective, in your waking life, your ex may actually have done you a favour by breaking up, which in the dream was through him saving you. Ironic as it may seem to you at this point in time, by breaking up he has actually saved you from a relationship that was drowning you out and you didn't really want to save. Be happy. Life always has better plans for us.

remember that the water in your dreams may be a statement about your emotions and the unconscious. Sharks could represent unpleasant emotions or difficult and painful materials coming up from the unconscious. You may feel some emotional upset, and the shark could be the symbol of the perceived emotional danger. Old dream interpretation books say that sharks may represent dishonest friends or reflect financial troubles.

Dreams are usually just dreams, but sometimes, they're extensions of your subconscious wants, thoughts and desires.
In this case, it sounds like you really wanted the relationship to work because you felt like you needed saving, or had already been saved.
In any case, it doesn't really apply. My advice is to start looking for a new boyfriend, and forget about that dream.
I had a dream about possessed (as in demons and the like) bags of potato chips. Barbecued potato chips, no less. I wonder if Satan has been born upon the Earth as a potato?

Or probably you're questioning what existence may be like without your spouse. which does no longer recommend you're on the verge of give way of divorce unavoidably - basically that, like a number of married/connected human beings, you may each each now and then ask your self what existence on your human being may be like, and it is a fashion of taking section in our the problem without needing to make any problematical options. The crying signifies that you're exceedingly confident that you want her on your existence. This dream easily does no longer recommend your spouse is going to have a crash - she is not any more beneficial likely to crash at present, than she replaced into the former day or the day earlier. And sure - that's completely regularly occurring - you dream each evening - basically alarming aims like this are those that stick on your options the subsequent day.

In reality your relationship is the ocean and the sharks represent the problems you and your bf have. I thinkdeep down you are tired of putting in the effort and hoping your bf would be the one to save you in the relationship. In reality, it seems he is not.

Maybe it could be interpreted as: you are dependent on your boyfriend to "rescue" you in life. Maybe this dream and the fact that you are now single is a sign that you need to be more indepedent and help yourself rather than looking to a guy to do it for you.
