Hi, independent of having a virus or not, you can get your computer scanned at different websites for free...You should reinstall Windows XP. Choose either reinstall or repair installation. Whatever you choose do not worry about loosing any file or program, Installing or repairing XP does not erase any files, nor change you computer setting but will add the necessary drivers and damaged files.

You can scan free and if you find a virus look for a free download program called KillBox that allows you to remove or disinfect any virus. You can get a free scan, download, free anti virus and download KillBox all at this page and its links:

You have a virus on your computer.

Try scanning your computer with a virus scanner.

If you do not have a virus scanner installed on you computer, you can get the free version of AVG anti virus and anti spy ware from http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1 and use them to fix your problem.

Also check for a autorun.inf file on the root of C: and D:.
some times even after you remove the virus, you will still have to remove this file manually.
