I have been offered a contract to represent me and my book, but are they legit? I have heard that this agency hasn't made a single sale with publishers, which is something that obviously concerns me.

Check with Preditors and Editors and then surf the Backgrounds and Bewares section of Absolute Write Water Cooler. From what I can see, these people are not recommended by P and E because they charge fees. Looks like a POD outfit to me. My best advice is do not sign any contracts, especially if it puts you in the position of having to pay them money. The only fees an agency should charge you for is copying and mailing. They make their money by taking a percentage off your sales. It doesnt look good to me. You can never be too careful with agencies. Keep AWWC and Pa nd E on bookmarks. You will refer to them often. There are many others too, but those are the two I recommend. The mere fact someone said they havent sold any books is reason enough not to sign your life away with them. C.

I looked up the name of this business which you listed above, and looked at their website on the internet. Writer's Literary Agency appears to be a subsidy publisher. That is, they don't pay you to publish your book, you pay them--in advance. They also charge a whole variety of fees for other services in marketing the book. These type of businesses are sometimes also called "vanity press", because this type of publisher will often publish almost anything, regardless of quality or whether or not there is a market for the book, as long as the author is willing to pay for their services.

If they have contact with other publishers, I am not able to find out anything about them so far. If they say they are literary agents, that is something different from what they are principally advertising on their website. They say they have contacts with hollywood producers , but are not specific.

Look, it is your choice; however, if I were an author, I would try other approaches to publishers and literary agents. I have no way of knowing if your book is good or not, or if it is financially successful or not. But I would try a lot of other literary or publishing avenues before going to one of these type of businesses. Read some books and magazines on authors and writers and publishing and get a feel for what they think of this type of subsidy publisher before investing your money in this type of venture.

Good luck.

I don't think they are because Writer Beware has received hundreds of complaints and advisories of fee-charging, editing referrals, and other questionable practicesthese days you do have to be really careful when choosing a Literary Agency to represent you. You should try and go for the really big Agencys that are proberly the Association of Authors' Representatives.
