Need to know what this is called, its above the water pump and there is a gasket that goes behind it. Its about 9 inches long, 7 inches wide.

those look like covers not sure on the first one, I think if u remove it u will see the crank, I think it it is a crankcase cover, not sure what u would call the second one, but ur clutch is underneath it, so clutch cover

The first is your crankshaft cover and as the man stated if you remove this your big-end and main bearings can be accessed.
On the other i am afraid he is wrong, this is your cam-chain cover and with the removal of this you can replace your cam chain and tensioners, your clutch is at the back of the motor and your spark plugs are under the left center cover, the main cover on the left covers your camshafts, my advise to you is don't stuff around with these bikes if you don't know what you are doing as a mistake on them can be very costly, believe me i know i am a BMW trained mechanic

The first one is the bottom of the crankcase, the second is the valve cover, if you pull it off you will see spark plugs. It isn't the clutch cover. The K-bike engine lays flat, unlike a traditional across-the-frame 4-cylinder (as in most Japanese bikes.)
