In addition to Beano007's good answer, there are STEMs (combination of Scanning and Transmission Electron Microscopes) also.

A transmission elecron micro passes a beam of electrons though the sample and the sample must be thin sectioned. A scanning electron micro passes a beam over the surface of a sample you can get 3d images of live organisms as this is not destructive.
