It is because the previous installation of Windows has not been erased. Follow this step to make sure you erase your previous installation.

Firstly you put the installation CD in (you have to start your computer first to enable the CD drive to move). Then restart the computer. To a certain extent, the screen will show 'Push any key to boot from CD' and you have to click on any key, either Enter or Spacebar, it doesn't matter. Then wait for the installation files to be copied onto your computer. It does this automatically, so don't worry. Then it will display the drives where you can install your OS. Usually people do it on C drive. But firstly you have to Delete the C drive to erase whatever OS that have been on the C drive. Then you have to create it back. All of this can be done by following the instruction on the screen. Then follow the instruction to install the OS on the C drive. For your information, OS means Operating System, like in your case, Windows Xp.

put in your windows instillation disk go to the windows repair option. It should ask for a repair option choose 1 and for the pass word just hit enter. It should bring you to a prompt screen type diskpart and thought this you can repartition every thing this way you clear every thing. then reinstall windows this will be a fresh new install. The way it sound you just keep installing windows over windows I have this tbefore and it made my system unstable.

You could just go to My computer and click on you main drive(usually C) then click on Documents and settings and manually delete all the old accts. That will give your computer alot of memory back.
