My daughter is 9 weeks and getting her two month old shots tomorrow...should I give her any baby tylenol or anything beforehand? I don't have any on me and am not sure if I should buy some before her appt or if she is too young still for pain relievers...thanks

Yes, it is safe to give infant tylenol drops before and after the shots. I ussually weight until after my daughter is weighed so I know the correct dossage, just ask the nurse and he or she will help you. Good luck!

Oh, and we us the dye free version so it doesn't stain when she let's it drip from her mouth.
(You can't give ibrofin or advil until 6 months of age.)

Just buy some infant Tylenol drops either before or after the appointment. There is no need to medicate her unless she gets a fever. My son never had reactions to his shots, so not all kids do. But it's a good idea to always have the drops in your diaper bag just in case. Ask your doctor what dosage you can give her if she does need it, they might even have a card with dosage based on weight that they can give you.

I wouldn't give her anything beforehand since she's still so young and it's not completely necessary. The doctor never instructed me to and I never read anywhere that it was a good idea to. (and I did a LOT of reading since I just had my first five months ago). However, if you think it's a good idea- just call your pediatrician beforehand and ask. That never hurts. After my son got his immunizations at 8 weeks, my doctor gave him tylenol but it was only because he had an xray scheduled for right after. She wanted him to be calm for that. I'd just call them. That's what you pay them for. =] Oh and my pediatrician has triage nurses who can help me out over the phone, so I never have to wait for a doctor to speak with.

Hi I have two sons ages two and four and their doctor always told me tylenol one hour before their shots and if they run fever then give them tylenol every four to six hours as needed. If you have any questions about the dosage you will have to contact your doctor before hand so you don't give her the wrong dose. My sons doctor always says it helps with the crankyness, fever, and soreness ( in the leg where they get the shot)

it wouldn't hurt to give her any tylenol just to the first line on the dropper i would give it to her before hand that away it would kick in before the shots .
