You must check to see the reason why the paw is swollen; is there an obvious injury, wound, splinter or grass seed?? Then clean the area thoroughly with a weak peroxide solution, cutting away any fur from around the sore area. You may then be able to apply betadine and tape it up, to stop the dog from licking at it. If it looks serious, then go to the vet for antibiotics; the dog might need to wear a plastic collar to stop it chewing at the paw.

Clean the foot really good with warm water and soap. Check and see if there is an open wound or not. If there is, try soaking his foot in warm water and epson salt, it can help draw out the infection(if its not too advanced). Do this a couple times a day. When your done soaking it, slather triple anibiotic on it. If it doesnt improve, see your vet.

I wouldn't try home remedies. We have a standard poodle with nailbed problems (the nail breaks away and is very painful) and he is seen by our local vet. Your dog could need anitbiotics to fix the swelling.

not really he needs a vet, unless it's just an infected flesh cut then use triple anibotic ointment and dress the wound after it is cleaned in warm water. If there is swelling and no cut then off to the vet to make sure he doens't die from blood posioning

Take him to a vet. Home remedies without proper diagnosis can make the problem worse.
P.S. It's ''poodle''.

clean the foot and check and see if it has glass or a thorn in it.
If it is an infection, you might want to check with a vet.

It needs to be drained!!
It is an abscess. You must lance it, then soak it, bandage it until bleeding stops and then the dog can lick at it. Licking is good because the dog is able to get the rest of the puss and goo out!

Damn it, it's against the law not to take an injured animal to the vet. Now DO IT.
