First of all the Army or your husband being in the Army doesn't make you fat... I was in the Army and now I am a soldier's wife who's not fat at all or ugly... The assumption comes from lots Army wives staying at home because after moving so many times it gets old to start over and getting a job and all that...

I married my husband because I love him, not because of his job and part of marrying him is becoming the person that supports him and is there for him, whether he's home or in Iraq, where he is at the moment...

When he is away it's like every other traveling job, just for longer (I try not to focus on the danger). Your life goes on and you keep taking care of yourself and everything you have to include friends and family. It's also a break from the relationship that can give a different perspective of who you are and how much you value your relationship and the little and big things you share. It can be very lonely and frustrating sometimes but staying focused on the things that you have to look forward to makes it much more easier.

Just because he leaves, doesn't mean that you are going to get fat and lazy. You are your own person and not some rediculous sterotype. You should keep yourself occupied, like work or school. Maybe you can take up a hobby or sport. Whatever you do, live your life! Go out with your mom or sister. Stay active. When your man gets deployed, write to him, and support him as best you can. Most importantly pray for him and his fellow men for a safe return. Don't listen to anyone else or any rumors about army wives. You are who you are! Young, beautiful, and a supportive wife!

well, get involved with the mother's or wives on base...when my husband was in the USAF they had little groups for wives with children and just wives...Babysitting list so moms can take breaks, lunches together, little events to do together...that will help pass some of the time...

Love those people who say that the wives are fat and lazy..like our husbands make so much money..lol...we still work because his pay alone never paid the bills..we also take care of the children and the household while he is away....

Trust me...it is tuff being the wife of someone in the military..

Get a job, stay busy. Save some money and take a vacation with him when he gets leave.
