The withdraws are the worst thing I've ever experienced. I get cold sweats, the runs, I even feel like I'm jumping out of my skin. I start throwing myself around. I'm a mess. I've been on 100 mcq 48 hrs, for over 2 years. I have genetic pancreatitis. My Dr has tried to reduce, but I just go threw immediate withdraws. I feel hopeless. I almost feel like ending it sometimes, not that I want to, but that's how bad the pain gets from the withdraws. Please, if anyone knows how to get off fentanyl safely, without reducing, please let me know. Thanks for reading my question, andrew.

Talk to your doctor about taking Methadone then switch to something a little weaker than 100mcq. Or see about switching your medication to something different while lowering your fentanyl! I hope this helps!!

fentanyl is a narcotic. The way narcotic withdrawals are treated is with long acting narcotics (usually methadone) which do not give you the same "buzz" but provides you with the same effect, no withdrawal symptoms. When you are started on methadone, you can then be gradually weaned off it. You can only get methadone from a methadone clinic.
Good luck. Addiction to anything is very imprisoning and I know you will be able to get back your freedom before long

Don't try doing this on your own. You need to withdraw from it very gradually by gradually reducing the dose over a period of time,. it may take six months, your GP may want to put you on something else while you withdraw, but nothing will happen overnight.

Other than finding another drug to replace it, the way out is to reduce the dosage. Simple as that. You should worry about becoming dependent on a replacement drugs because you already know you have addictive tendencies. You're just going to have to resolves yourself to suffer a few days of extreme discomfort if you want to get off the drug.

the only way to safely withdraw from such a strong med is with the advice of a doctor. don't do anything till your doctor advises -it is dangerous and can be deadly.
