My chinchilla broke a bar on my fence that keeps him and the dogs separate and got under it. The dog and chinchilla are used to seeing each other because its clear, and the dog has smelled it before, when it got though the dog didn't bite or pick it up, just licked it a ton, or at least thats all i saw, its possible it was picked up, but there are no visible bite marks.

Now the chinchilla will barly move at all, just the tail and blink pretty much, when i put him in the cage he lays on his side which he never does, wont even take a dust bath. What could be wrong? What should I do? No place to take him tonight.

Possible unseen internal injuries. Also may be in shock. If you dont want a new coat you better see a vet.

You should take him to a vet immediately. Lethargic chinchillas is not a good sign. He might have internal injuries, a broken spine or whatnot. You will never know unless you get him checked out by a vet. Dont wait around any longer. If you have any more questions check out www.practical-pet-care.com

"Moping around" is not normal chinchilla behavior. Chances are the dog may have damaged the Chinnie and you might want to take it to your vet for a check up (if you value the Chinchilla).
