I dont hate america so I hope to not get answers that would imply that. I just think that sometimes it seems that the US puts its needs ahead all other countries. Not always and yes I do realize that the US is a major contributor of foreign aid.

as a specific example I put forth all the conflicts for oil. the US fights fervently for oil but it does not fight for the people in Darfur who have nothing to offer except themselves.

I think that people in the US should think of people of other places as equal to themselves.

Jonathan -- lets focus on the fact bush president/idiot doesnt speak for all of America

bush and his republican goons are the ones that want to benefit the billions to their friends that will be returned back to them somehow.
Its their greed that everyone sees.

I only hope the rest of the world doesnt hold all of America responsible for bush's treachery

Red neck -- youre words are something out of O'reillys mouth.

Protect our own citizens by sending our soldiers into harms way under false pretenses?
yeah this great administration of ours kills and wounds and cuts funding for the care of its soldiers -- and at same time makes us look bad to the entire world with this messed up foreign policy.

And republicans and the people you defend bring up most aid to countries.

Well, on the same token have we not done just asmuch damage to many coutries by providing terrorist organizations with money equipment knowledge?
And also made alliances with our current enemies at one time, to only break that allaince at our convenience and now we and the world suffer from the terrorist organizations we help strengthen.

We owe it to the rest of the world. for the damage our leaders have done!!!

We also have a tremendous number of poor and sick of our own that we can't afford to take care of, but we still continue to send AID to other countries. I'm sooooo sick of hearing that we don't give enough. When another country is in trouble who do they call? Darfur? I don't think so. They call us, and we do what we can to help. It's not always done the right way, and sometimes becomes a worse mess than it started out as, but at least we try. If foreign countries hate us so much and want us to stay out of their business STOP ASKING FOR HELP!

Charity should first begin at home, and only then, with still ample to share, then should we go doing charity outside. However, the meaning of 'charity' is no longer what we traditionally holds it to be. Charity has too often mean "give only when we know what we can gain doublefold." If I were from a foreign nation, I wouldn't try to reach out for today's type of charity like a beggar because it might just result in heavier sacrifices in return, at later times!

Many in America, especially those in power, don't even look at their own people as being equal to them! Why would you think that the US, who has been fighting wars for centuries over land, and others resources, is about to change now?

i imagine that statement is premature. Brazil has defied us in the previous, like their nUclear software. it really is no longer a strong signal for a united states to have the richest guy, because it really is an illustration of the seperation of wealthy and detrimental. we've switched into an commercial united states and so we used up really accessed minerals. ANd it really is no longer our position to inform what a united states opt for as a pacesetter. That replaced into why i replaced into so mad that George H.W> Bush replaced into voted out.

Here's the problem with your question- what country involves itself in helping with humanitarian efforts more than the US? I don't think you can name one. Anytime the UN wants to send peacekeepers to help diffuse a situation, they always call up the US and more often than that we provide troops or some kind of support. And as you mention, the US is far and away the largest provider of foreign aid (both public and private) in the world.

With a country as rich and powerful as ours, we have a responsibility to be generous in helping others, but our primary responsibility is to protecting and helping our own citizens.

Iam not an American, but i think it is natural for one to be selfish. There is a saying in our place that goes;"if you are hungry you can not feed another"or "if you fall in fire with somebody else you remove yourself from fire before you remove the other"America will not be policeman of every corner of the world. She knows the buttered side of her bread and she will go for it.We should not be causing problems and wait for America to solve them.America does not just fight. It fights for the interests of her people and they are ready to pay any cost.

Everybody should be equal. Although I don't approve of America's position, we have to remember the responsibilities of a government.

In this case, wouldn't you want to protected by a government like America? It might be unethical but in the end, they are merely serving their country.
