I think these following questions are useful for any artist or band if they are serious about conducting their music careers as a business.

Is your stage name trademarked?
Have you filed your songs for copyright protection?
What is your background? (Who are you and your bandmembers? Tell your story.)
Do you have a written ‘band agreement’?
Why do you want to record and release your own music? (Be very honest.)
What are your songs about? (What specific themes do they cover?)
Do you write your own songs? (Discuss the songwriting process in detail.)
Who are your musical influences? (Site specific examples.)
How do you describe your music to people?
What are your immediate music career goals? (Next 1 to 3 years.)
How would you define the word “success”? (This is not a short answer. Discuss it.)
Are you aware of the tax deductions available for musicians?
Who handles your daily business activities? (Bookings, promotions etc.)

Oh and BEST OF ALL *Do you have Myspace? hehe! J/k!

Hope that answers your question... :)

First read other interviews about the artists so you don't waste your time. Nobody wants to be asked how they got started a hundred times before. Look for follow up questions and word it so you tell them that you did your research. For instance, "I read you lived out of a van for two years, why not live with your parents or relatives?"

What are your musical influences.
How long have you been interested in music.
How long do you see yourself making music.
Why don't you give me some money now.
Would you mind if i borrowed your Lamborghini.

Don't ask them about their personal life.. that's why it's called PERSONAL

You can ask them about the concept of their albums or song meanings.. stuff like that.
