I have heard so many people complain about how bad today's youth is (and I'll admit it, many of today's kids are so bad in terms of their behavior and lack of respect). But my question is, from 3 years of working in retail (started at age 16) & from what I've seen in my life, how about many of the older generation (25+)? I've seen older people in college (30+) act like little teenage snobs & gossip and at work I see many people, both elderly and the classic middle class 25-40 married w/ kids types act out irresponsibly and immature. I've seen kids with more respect than some of these older people today, and many older people think they have a right to disrespect young people simply because they think young people don't know anything and they are lesser beings. I'm 19 & have even been threatened with violence by some of these older men (& generally speaking I'm very polite & respectful unlike common-day stereotypes of college age kids). What's your take on that?

please don't be confused when I mean 25-40 & then I say elderly (60+). I mean those who are older than teens and college-age people for those who misinterpret (as one idiot already did).

As you put it, ageism, which the Youth Rights movement is attempting to stop. They seem to assume that if someone is young, then they POSSIBLY couldn't know what their talking about. One major difference between when they were young and today's youth is that it's possible to learn a lot of things through the Internet. Sure reading stuff on the Internet and actual experiencing stuff isn't the same thing, but learning about it somehow is better then nothing right?

Unfortunately human behavior or maturity doesn't seem to improve over the years. You are right to say that the OLDER generation is problematic. A lot of people point to kids as drug and alcohol users but the simple fact is that the majority of drug offences are commited by adults.
In school I have noticed that a lot of "older" people never grew up and act like 16 year olds although they are 40.
You must immediately report or record in a notebook these threats because they are illegal and outrageous. One of the reasons why the older generation act like teenagers is because many stayed in school too long and never had children. They were never "made" to grow up. Although there are some people who don't take care of their kids, the majority do. That forces people to be more responsible etc.

I can't believe that you think that 25 to 40 years old is elderly!! I seriously doubt that your standards and manners could even come close those who are 60+ years! I know that mine don't. By your definition ... I'm elderly, since I'm over 25! When you work in retail you will see all of the best and the worst in people. Sorry to say, but at 19 you don't know skit!

Have you discovered a great truth worth listening to? I hope you have, as, with your wisdom, and your superior knowledge, you can share with us the great secrets you possess. I personally would like to know these great truths you have discovered, and I don't doubt that you can enlighten us.

Not to be rude, but why do you think your opinion is so worthwhile? It has nothing to do with age, since I know plenty of Baby Boomers who have nothing worth saying, yet feel entitled to their opinion.

Perhaps, a better demonstration of wisdom is to acknowledge that you don't know a whole hell of a lot. I don't claim any great truth's myself, but also don't get bent out of shape if other's don't care about my opinion. If people would like to know what I have to say, they can listen. If they wish to ignore me, that is their prerogative as well. Either way bother's me not the least, as I am more concerned with my desire to learn, than my desire to speak.
