i went for a job interview a week ago tomorrow and the guy said he'd talk to the other manager and call me, but i haven't heard from him. i really wanted this gig. should i be worried?

Impossible to tell.
The truth is, the job may already have been someone else's when you went for your interview. It may be that none of the managers have been able to get their act together yet to pick anyone. It could mean that HR still hasn't called your references.
Call and check back with them. Be persistant unless someone tells you that the job's been filled. Good luck!

I would call them.
Thank them for taking the time to interview you and let them know that you are very much interested in working for them.
Even if that job is already taken they might offer you another job in their company. You can work your way to the coveted job from there.

Don't worry...you didn't get the job.
Only the successful applicants are contacted these days, it sucks, but that is how it is done now,
