Having a passport has been made simpler now. You have to contact the nearest Regional Passport Office in the capital city of the state where you are residing. Some post offices are also authorized to give the applications and receive the completed applications. While very reputed travel agents can be contacted for this purpose, it is better to go in person to the RPO to get your job done. With the verification and other procedures it usually takes 2-3 months to get your passport.
