the people above me made me want to run outside and start screaming about the unfairness of the world.

First answer is from a homeless man who is having trouble surviving at all and the second from a woman worried about health insurance. HEALTH INSURANCE?! That isn't even close to an option for most people today. The job I just quit from offered me health isurance. I was stoked. Until I figured out they wanted to take half of the money out of every paycheck. So now I have health insurance but no food. Then I buy food. So now I have food but no place to live. you see how badly that works?

I used to be homeless too. I lived in a single wide trailer with 6 other people because minimum wage is so low it was the only way we could afford it and we still couldn't afford much of anything else. We couldn't afford the ticket we got on the ONE car that we shared and the rent at the same time. We went without food. We couldn't buy propane. we couldnt have anything ( where did the money all go?) And then we got kicked out of the house. So I lived on the street and lost my job. I couldn't get another job. I was STUCK.

I used to be in that position. The best thing to do is to be humble. I had to move out of an apartment, back home in order to save money and go back to college. It was the best decision I could have done, because I always have a few thousand dollars, and I benefit from being closer to my family and making riskier decisions, because I have money in my pocket. If you can't move home, perhaps its time to take a step back, and move somewhere that you can afford, sell that home or cut off the cable, or sell that car. Get a second or third job. If your lifestyle is making you a slave, it's time to live more humbly until you can do better. Sure it was horrible to come back home, but if I didn't I'd still be hating my life and stressing myself out and not progressing in life. Best wishes.

I agree with ScottishBob and Riverkid. I have felt trapped, but I refused to change things because my basic needs were met. It's not a healthy way to live. If you are just afraid of lowering your standard of living, I'd say go anyway. You'd be surprised at how little it takes to get by when you have to, and it's very freeing to live without attachments to material things. Plus you will feel better about yourself being self-sufficient. You will figure out a way to move on if you need to.

Yes. I have been there many times. The problem is that we always think about where we could be or should have been. You see the reason so many people are unhappy is because they are either living in the past or the future. People who live in the past use the phrase, "if only." "If only I had finished school," "if only I hadn't married so young." "If only I hadn't moved when I did." People who live in the future use the phrase, "as soon as." "As soon as I pay off my debts, things will be better." "As soon as I leave home." "As soon as i finish school." The problem is that you can't change the past, and you don't even know if you'll be alive tomorrow. The best thing to do, I've learned is to just live for today. Only then can you be happy.

Most traps that people have are self-imposed. About money, everyone's life would be different with more money. I work very hard and am able to make basic bills (electricity, water, rent, food) and some luxuries (Internet service, phone, cable). I'm thankful because at some points, paying for all of those things weren't possible.

i would like to attend an acting school but they are expensive and in my country only full time.a year ago had a lame job and i used to attend some seminars but i run out of money...then i found a great job and now i have money but do not have time as the great job comes with 10 hours a day...

so now i feel completely trapped because even if i worked for enough time to raise money for the tuition...well that would take too long, and who would support me when in school? not a question for a loan!
and if i got back to a lame job and had few money and time to attend a school if everything turned out bad for me in the acting dept who would give me a chance for a business carrier again?

well...i am trying to find some weekend seminars but most of them are sooo not good.

don't need to mention the changes if i had money, do i? i would just attend an acting school period.!!

I feel like all I do is work just to make ends meet. If I had enough money and I didn't have to work so much I would spend every moment with my husband and my two boys because I do not get to as much as I like because of the money needed to be made to survive. Then again if I never had to worry about money and was able to spend all the time in the world with my family, would I appreciate it as much? No because I would have it all the time. So when I do have it, I appreciate it that much more.

I am so stuck. If I make more money I can't get the health insurance. If I make money it has to be a lot of money
When I turned a certian age private health insurance became more expensive then what I brought in. Being close to the age of 60 the likelyhood of me getting a job that gives good health insurance isn't possible.

I have a product I could be marketing but can't right now. Unless I make mega bucks.

Health insurance issues are huge for many people.
I am totally frustrated.

Money is not a problem. To really live well and find happiness you don't need much money, Just stay away from the trapping of a materialistic society.

Of course I feel trapped, but I think it could be worse. I'm living as a poor person, because I am poor. If I had more money (not rich) but I could and would feel and do better.
