I usually will have the television on for noise (company). Then I will ask/answer questions here, read, do word searches, crochet, or study (if I have studying to do....going to school there is always something to do). Sometimes I will send e-mails to my friends. Or I will look something up on the internet and try to learn something new. Whatever I do, I try to make it a quiet activity (by quiet, I mean noise level and level of activity).
I hope you start sleeping better.

If you don't sleep at the same time everyday, your body wont get used to it, hence it wont be ready when you *want* it to sleep. So make it a point to go to bed at around the same time every day. Within days, u will start seeing a diference. U will start feeling sleepy at around the same time. It is amazing how the body adapts. For now, I would put off the tv first and foremost....since it is actually keepign u from sleeping. It is stimulating ur nervous system. I would suggest u get a hot cup of milk and sip it slowly & read a light book (something not too interesting). That always makes me drowsy. A hot bath (not too hot, but not just warm either) definitely makes me super-drowsy. And don't worry. If there is anything worrying u, write it down in a journal. That will help u relax a little better. Just relax, dont pressure urself to sleep, and sleep will come slowly.....
ps: Make sure the temperature is on the cooler side. I hv noticed when it is warm, it interferes with my sleep. Make the room as dark as you can... and think pleasant thoughts and see pleasant visions...:) Hope u hv a nice sleep tonight.

I sympathize with your plight being that I'm an insomniac.
I usually go on the computer for a while, listen to music, read, walk my dog, basically anything that would tire me out. But in your case I would listen to smoothing music, count sheep it actually helps sometimes, or exercise, or drink some herbal tea. If you continue having problems sleeping see a doctor and they may prescribe some sleeping pills. Hope this helps!

turn off the tv and close your eyes. don't think, "man, i can't sleep" if you still can't sleep, go into a dark room and sit there for a few minutes. go back to bed. if nothing works, see your doctor for medication to help you sleep.
