Never mind. I misread the question. I must say I am impressed by people who can do that because I'm terrible at pronouncing such things. As I said before, generally if I think a pronunciation is beyond me I motion the server over and just point at the menu.

I've been on both sides of the coin with the same food. Quesadilla.
When I worked at a resteraunt that served them, I was constantly asked for a kway-suh-deal-yuh.
And then I have ordered the same dish in a resteaunt and have been given a weird look and asked if what I meant was a kway-suh-deal-yuh.
It's a cheesy doubled sword.

Yes! I spent a summer studying in Italy, and when I came back to Indiana, I could hardly wait to use my skills at an Italian restaurant. Sadly, they were lost in translation...
And yes, those EYE-talians do make a mean "sketti bolloggnessy".
;-)

Yes, Gnocchi. The waiter had no idea what I wanted, I finally pointed and he said "oh you mean gee-noch-ee" Also, happens all the time with Gyros, "you mean gee-rows".
Gee now I'm hungry....
