I hear over and over Democrats trash-talking Bush. But why waste their energies on Bush? Bush is done, he's a lame duck in horrible shape. His term essentially ended months ago.

How much of this election season are they going to waste on Bush, for heavens sake? I'm a Bush supporter, but he's done! There isn't anything more that anyone could do to Bush. Why waste time on Bush? Impeach him? You'd rather have Cheney? Impeach him too? On what grounds? Seriously?

It's way past time to be thinking of the next battle that matters, the 2008 election. The Democrats have yet to field a serious, main stream contender! (Although I think Obama is a center-left politician, he's not electable).

PCPY: You and I must be quite alike. I agree with most everything you said.

I worry about the civilians who would die if we withdrew from Iraq, though. And maybe I shouldn't have such a heart, really. But we created the security mess, I feel responsible (as a nation). Still, ending NAFTA, and sealing the boarders does have attractive merits, very attractive.

Itsdabig: I'm perfectly fine with Bush bashing. Truly. I believe it distracts from the actual candidates for the Republican party, and when the end closes in on election, it'll be too late. This years elections come earlier than ever before (firming up of candidates), so time is running out to move on to the actual contenders. But for those who want to stay on the Bush track, please do. It helps us Conservatives big picture. You're creating your own distraction. Ijust can't understand how YOU don't see that, that was the point of my question.

Truly, this question wasn't a swipe at all, really just a heads-up. He isn't running, and there are actual candidates you AREN'T attacking. Read all the questions, as evidence.

That's a damned good observation. All of the Democratic candidates are literally running on a platform of anti-Bush rhetoric.

I sincerely think this strategy is going to back fire on them. Bush bashing is getting old - and, as you point out, pretty much useless when one considers that he is all done at the end of this term.

The democrats better start throwing their mud at the people who will actually be running against them, and forget about Bush for awhile. They'll be all out of ammunition when they finally realize Bush isn't in the opposing podium come presidential debate time.

Those who choose to run for President ALWAYS bash the policies of the outgoing President (when there is one). The Republicans did it with Clinton, and the Democrats will do it with Bush. It's the best way to show people that "voting for me will mean a change."

As far as impeachment, I (along with most of the rest of the country) don't know enough about the fine points of Constitutional law to make a decision whether or not he should or should not... you probably are just as knowledgeable about impeachment as I am.

All in all, this country wants change, and President Bush is absolutely, 100% fair game in the race for the presidency in 2008.

Habit. Democrats (as well as Republican) party has totally fallen apart. They have no direction except one of destruction. The yak and yak about how horrible of a mess things are but give no solutions; much like the yahoos that write on Yahoo (LOL). With no direction comes no foresight,no foresight gives you no plan. They can only do what they have been taught to do over and over again for the last 6 years; try and beat down America and the Republicans. It's really a shame that the Republicans are in the same mess. Let's ship all of the politicians above the level of dog catcher to Iraq, bring our troops home, close off the boarder to Mexico, get rid of Free Trade and start over; what do you say?

i'm no longer even a Democrat, yet whilst "Blame Bush for ______' (insert despite)" is the only counterpoint you have heard against Republicans then i choose to propose lowering on your selective listening to. by how, it is totally a competent ingredient to run on. even once you're unwell of listening to it, Bush did make countless errors and countless of the rustic knows of it. many each and every person is able to discovering from their errors, so as meaning they gained't vote Republican in the event that they do no longer choose a repeat of the outcomes we observed from Bush's 8 years. in basic terms when you consider which you're unwell of listening to it does not make it no longer actual.

They are running against his record and his view on issues.
Republican candidates will largely support that record and his take on those issues.
The Democrats have to make the case for change. The '06 elections prove this should be easy to do.

As it goes in politics, you dont have to give solutions, just trash talk the other guy. Right now the other guy is Bush, and taking pot shots is all they got. Libbey, Cheney, they all have no challenge to pres, so beating up on them just keeps the Demos in the news until they can figure out what to do next. Who else could the Demos try to look bad for their own benefit, there arent any Repub's out there standing up to take a beating at the moment.

The Bush policies are now running and will be running for years, not just 2008. The impact of his deadly process of misinformation, invasion, lies and corruption will be the strawman all candidates - whether Repub or democrat, will run against the legacy of insane USA acts for ten years or more. There will be easily 6,000 dead USA in Iraq. 60,000 wounded requiring hospital, amputees, mental defects, generations stunted.

Every one is unnecessary and laid at the feet of W Chimp Bush.

Hey! Get used to it! Conservatives are STILL griping about Clinton- & he's been out of Office for 6 years now! What makes you think Bush will fare any different? -And lets face it; as long as we have to watch our guys in Iraq get gunned down on a daily basis- we're going to be only TOO painfully aware- of WHO put them there! So suck it up. Bush-bashing is going to be with us- LONG AFTER he isn't. Count on it. :)

The dems are taking a page from the strategy book of the republicans. They've been running against Bill Clinton for 15 years now.
