Yep, I agree with all these fellows, it's a sound and vision thing that helps to calm and relax one.
("a 'sound' therapy", is that a play on words Boss? hehehe)

It creates a focal point for your yard (we are assuming this is a backyard watefall), something many yard designs are lacking. As stated above, they help mask outside noise, if the water fall is properly constructed to create sound. The water attracts birds, the water pond can hold fish. Water plants are interesting and unusual. On the down side, a waterfall is maintenance. You have to keep the water level up, a pond is a little tricky to balance to keep algae from forming. You need to keep fallen debris out of the water....think autumn leaves for example. Water features eventually leak........hopefully not for many years, but it depends on construction. Pumps break. Fish die or have to be cared for over winter, water plants need repotting, trimming etc. If your water has a lot of minerals, don't use darker stones, they become crusty white from minerals.
Personally I love them, but find them to be a money pit. So your love has to be greater than the money and time spent maintaining it.

Many people love the sound and sight of a stream or waterfall. It is relaxing and drowns out the neighborhood noises.
If you have one you will enjoy it...and at night when you entertain outside you can put a spotlight on it....or torches near it

It's very pretty and can make your garden look great!
But here in Australia we shouldn't be having waterfalls.
You could use it to win a garden contest just like i use to do,
but i also live in Australia so i never use waterfalls anymore.
If you like having a great garden and waterfall's express your
neighbors and show a great way to make your garden looking great!
