As much as a doctor can help, the thought of going to a doctor for her problems can make the whole experience more depressing for her...

I went though depression last year and had thought of... well... suicide. Just the thought of going to the doctors made me even more depressed than I already was. The thing that realy helped me get through my hard times though was my 2 best friends... they would always be there for me and they really seemed to take and honest interest in haw I was doing...

So I'd say that on top of her being seen by a doctor... you should just always be ther for her. Call her up every once and a while and ask her how she is (let her dominate the conversation... don't talk about yourself)... Ask her to do something with you like take a walk ar have a picnic (something where you guys can connect... not like a movie or something else that might cost money). Alway just let her know that you will always be ther for her no matter what... Give her hugs... Make her feel that she has somebody to be with and have a shoulder to cry on.

I hope this helps a bit... These tips really helped me when I was depressed.

Best of luck to you and your friend

Just let her know that she has friends and doesn't need to do things like that. If she feels "suicidal," try and talk to her, or advise her to see a doctor or something.

Call the police station right now! Get help. They will give you a referral and decide if they need to come out tonight.

I had a friend who told me that 1 to many times. I gave him a gun. Know what happened? He staightened up after he cried he couldn't believe I'd give him one.

Call the police. They can petition her and get her some help whether she wants it or not. We do it at work frequently.
