I don't believe a lifestyle of solitude, being a recluse or a loner living in seclusion, has anything to do with it...perhaps only in the regard that their movements are not monitored and noticed by other (family) people.
Bad people do bad things...whether they're loners or not, if they wish to harm someone, they'll find the method and the way.

First, it depends on the type of serial killer.
Charismatic types are probably not loners in the first place and their social skills are often key to their ability to kill multiple people over time without being caught.
So, in this type, it's probably unlikely that a loner would become or a serial killer would have been a loner.
Second, non-charismatic serial killers would likely have been loners and otherwise socially maladjusted. However, considering the low number of serial killers, you can't really say that loners tend to become serial killers...
Kind of like:
Some serial killers are non-charismatic.
Non-charismatic serial killers are usually loners.
Some loners are non-charismatic serial killers.

Serial killers have something wrong with them from the start. Being a loner is just a symptom of the problem. So no. In my opinion being a loner does not make you more likely to become a serial killer. However serial killers are generally loners.

~I don't know where others are getting their information, but I don't think one has anything to do with the other.
Maybe those in bad relationships are more likely to become killers, out of rage and jealousy?~

No, not necessarily. Mainly those who have strange actions growing up and do weird things become killers.
