At that point, put extra effort into yourself. Take classes, go to the gym, find new social circles.
Remember when you first dated and you hardly had to do anything to get his attention? You weren't playing maid or at his beck & call, were you? So you need to remember that and be a bit more unavailable. Finding other outlets for self-expression may renew his interest. Communicate also.
An unappreciative partner can cause resentment in the other partner which will slowly erode the relationship - you don't want that to happen. If counseling seems like a good idea, then go for it.

I think you should be open to communication. More often than not, feeling unappreciated is just a state of mind and is easily confused with recognition for your kindness and thoughfulness. If this is dealing with a mate, you definitely need to communicate with them and let them know how you are feeling.

the reason we feel that way is that we get comfortable with each other and start taking for granted the nice things we do for each other and start expecting that to continue. Stop being the pleaser and only give back after receiving. He will come around and realize.

If it is your spouse who you feel doesn't appreciate what you do all day, go on strike. A neighbor of mine went on strike against her husband and kids. No cooking, cleaning, finding lost stuff, basically not giving a crap about everything they came to her for. It worked, they started kissing her bootay when the realized firsthand what all that she did.

You can talk it out before sleeping, when both of you are comfortable. But If you don't have the guts or the time, write a letter and slip it into his/her pocket. Be sure to use the most diplomatic words.

Usually I have a fit and ask my family if I have MAID tattooed to my forehead. Then I let the laundry, & the dishes pile up. It is amazing how nice they can be when they don't have any clean jeans to wear to school and they have to do a ton of dishes.....(after all the paper plates are gone!) lol :)

I think about what I could stop doing to get me away from those feelings. Look at persons who are involved in those feelings.

Talk to the person that is making you feel this way.
If they do not respect and care about how you feel, stop being around them, move on and surround yourself with people that appreciate you for you.
