Romantic Getaway?

"Romantic" and "Illinois" don't normally go together in the same sentence. However, if you're a Chicagoan looking to get away, close to the city you might consider Geneva (which you can get to on Metra). If you want to drive further west, try Galena. Both of these are quaint old towns with nice little restaurants, bed and breakfast inns, and the like.

If you're from rural Illinois, most people would say spending a weekend in the city at a nice downtown hotel would be the most romantic thing you can do.

Galena! You can stay at a cozy bed & breakfast or a Resort & Spa! You can enjoy the day walking along the main street, shopping in the charming little antique and craft shops or take a trolley ride, go on a stagecoach ride, enjoy dinner at one of the many beautiful, romantic restaurants, tour a winery and much, much more. Very breaktaking scenery, friendly people. I always enjoy visiting Galena - and I live in Wisconsin!
