As I suggested you do before you bought your Chrysler 300, take it to a certified mechanic and have him / her go through your car to find out exactly what condition, mechanically speaking, the car is in. They will suggest any needed repairs, or services.

Depends on the age of the car, number of miles, and when and how often was it serviced, hopefully he kept a log book.

Usually when I have purchased a car from a private party that I intend to drive. I have the transmission fluid and the Cly Oil changed, check the battery, antifreeze, brakes and tires, lights, give it a good going over. If you state requires an inspection, (a good one) they will tell you most of these things before you can buy new license,

I usually replace ALL fluids and all filters with the quality ones because you probably don't know what previous owner used and when he changed them - unless all maintenance records are available.

Next thing is thorough mechanical check, and replacement of what seems to be warn out or broken. If you do this, you almost guaranteed to have several years of reliable service, basically like from new car.

It can cost you up to several thousands dollars all in all though, so you better factor this in your budget before going for a used car.

If it needs it. But one thing to do is have a mechanic check out the car BEFORE buying it (a used car).

Buy a haynes Repair manual for the vehicle if you have already purchased the vehicle. If so send me an email with the year and model and I will send you a list.
