I have noticed the color of my breast have darkened a little during my pregnancy. I am about 8 months now and it concerned me. I have heard people say nipples can darken because of pregnancy but I have never heard anyting about breast. IS this normal and will the color ever go back to normal???

Sure is possible.

Pregnancy can cause an over-production of melanin in the skin, a condition called chloasma. It happens to about 7 out of 10 pregnant women.

It normally happens on the face and chest, but can also happen on the forearms and on the skin around your vaginal area, and in a small pergentage of women it occurs pretty much all over their bodies.

The changes are hormone related, and should fade back to normal within a few months of delivery, although in a few women although the skin fades it never ccompletely returns to normal.

Rest assured this is fine.

Hope the rest of your pregnancy goes well.

Sure - hormones do weird things, and can strongly affect the melanin in your skin. The same thing that makes the linea nigra (that dark line up your belly, maybe even your chest and neck, I know one woman who in the right light you could see the line up her face!) can make other parts of your skin darker. This is the reason why you shouldn't do laser hair removal while pregnant or nursing!

It's probably not permanent. It should fade with time, but might not start until all the pregnancy/nursing hormones are gone from your body.

Ask your doctor for more info. There's a technical name for it, but I can't recall what it is right now.

Mine did a little but not a lot. It was mostly my nipples.

As far as I know.. it's just the nipples. They get dark so your baby can see them. lol.. this kinda makes me laugh.. so what color are your boobs?? lol

Maybe its just the veins and stuff are making them look darker!
