Most insurance companies now use how much it would cost to repair the car and the age of the driver + if they are a higher risk behind the wheel. Some insurance companies base your rates according to your credit score. So if you bought a newer car that is a 4 door and have an older car that is a 2 door. Most likely you will pay more for 4 door car than your older 2 door car because it would cost more to repair. There are fewer car insurance companies that even classify cars in groups anymore. Like sport car, family, luxury. I would suggest on getting a quote for whatever you are wanting to buy from the insurance company before you make the purchase. You may be surprised.

should really be cheaper on a 4 door , they consider a 2 door in most cars to be more sporty therefore more expensive even if they have the same drivetrain , also color is a factor too say a red car is slightly higher than a white car of the exact same make /model even a sunroof or convertible is slightly higher than a base model , although if they still offer it keeping a fire extinguisher used to save me 8 bucks a month off full coverage on my vette , granted not much but every little bit saved is something :) short answer to your question yes a 2dr is higher to insure than a 4dr :)

i own a shop, and there wont be but a few dollars difference in it,most 2 door cars are as much to insure these days as a 4 door are, that myth about 4 door cars being cheaper,is just really a myth, look at the new dodge charger, its a 4 door, and it has a hemi in it,and insurance isn't cheap on it,believe me,but it wont cost you much more if any, good luck i hope this helps.

Yes a two door car is slightly higher in insurance. When you really start seeing expensive insurance is with performance coupes such as the Mustang gt or Camaro z28.If you are under 25 you can bet on your insurance being more than your car payment for one of these bad boys.

It actually depends a lot on whose driving and what the car is stereotype for use. My brothers car which is a little older than mine is costing him twice as much as my car.
His is a neon sedan (4d) and mine is a zx2 coupe (2d) stock specs say that my is faster and more powerful. But since neon's are considered tuner cars by the insurance companies. He pays more.

yes, most likely.
2 door cars are more
Manual transmissions are more
Convertibles are generally more

Bascially, the more "sporty" car is (or appears to be) the higher the insurance is.

Just ask your insurance agent. They look this stuff up for people 10 times a day. We don't know where you live, how old you are, or what your driving record is and they do.

Because most 4doors are purchased by families and they tend to drive more safely tan younger single people who drive 2 doors. Thats the way the insurance agent explained it to me I guess its up to you if you want to believe it.
