Trust me. The VERY BEST site for discovering/learning about music is Allmusic.com:

They give comprehensive music reviews, album reviews, biographies, and have impressive music critics that FAIRLY judge an artists work - giving each album a rating based on the artists other work, so when you discover a new artist you know what record(s) to get. I've used allmusic.com for a decade and have learned so much!

put "music for robots" into google. its a good blog, not just rock and pop, but lots of stuff. they have demos you can listen to, ive definitely heard a lot of decent stuff from it that i would probably never have heard. check it out
