It is set up to be a money making business instead of the further of education. The sooner you realize this the madder you will be. Some Republicans don't want to share knowledge, and want you to pay through the nose for the slip before you can be employed at a decent wage. By the way I have a BA in Science/Liberal Arts.

what do you mean did jenna, barbara ,and Chelsea go to college??? Of course they did...Chelsea went to Stanford. And what do you mean who paid for it. Seeing that presidents are usually wealthy even before the get the office, and the fact that they make a half million dollars a year, I'm pretty sure that they can afford any college in the world

That's a good question. I'm in serious student loan debt myself.

I blame greed. I was once charged for the same book 3 times. Their "logic" was because that same book was required text for 3 different courses. I thought I was being scammed at best, but there wasn't a thing I could do about it.

It is angering. One is supposed to better one's life by getting a degree, not be in debt until he's 50. Meanwhile I see professors driving nice cars, travelling the world, and living large in tenure. Sometimes I wonder where all that money really went.

Administrative costs have risen over 240% in the last 7 years.

Tenured teaching staff has had salary increases of over 400% in the last 10 years (still have about 100 times that amount to catch up to the top executives).

27% of the students attending State or Federally funded institutions are not citizens of the US but are attending on some type of US government grant for aliens (nice huh).

32% of all US students attending on a government loan fail to pay the loan back in its entirety.

There is actually about 20 more reasons but these are among the ones that are impacting your costs the most.

Colleges have to pay for adminstration, professors and most importantly, their physical plant (the buildings).

The latter part is very capital intensive, including mortgages, maintenance and insurance costs.

The money colleges pay out has to come from somewhere.

They sell education, an intangible product.

My bet is the Bush family had enough money to cover it, or they may have even gotten scholarships.

They got college loans. Who do you think paid for it? Now, since I'm a teacher, I've got to go gas up my Jag.

Becase everyones so friggen greedy. The teachers need more money to pay for they're Jaguar and mansion on the hill. the publishers of books need more money to fill their pockets and on and on. If you don't beleive my, my mother cleaned the home of a music teacher and god! It was huge. And they also had a huge cabin in the mountains she cleaned once a year. They're not lacking, you know.

Dude, just because someone you do not like went to college, does not mean that they got a free ride. So, get over it.

The money goes to the pockets of AIPAC, and in turn ends up in a TelAviv bank account.
