Do not over feed, and if you can just dip out 1/2 the water 1 time a week. Do not dump the whole jar. Beta's do fine in a small jar but place a mirror behind it. This keeps them more active and makes them think they have another in the area. That gives him interest and exercise. Feed Total Wardley Beta Food or Freeze Dried Tubifex and Blood Worms.

How many gallons of water will it hold. If small enough to pick up can take the Betta out and then clean the small aquar. I do this all the time. I scoop out some of the tank water and put it into the container I bought the fish in. Then I catch the Betta(is easy) and put it into the container. Then rinse out the little tank and fix it the way ya want, add fresh water with some Start Right(this helps to keep slime coat and the fish can go right back into the fresh water. Don't need to do this very often if you do not over feed your Betta. A feeding of 2-3 pieces of Betta food daily are all that is needed. Can put in a small real plant or not. Look at your fish store for a floating plant, a small one. I change my Betta's water only once a month, have glass stones on bottom, and it is Never cloudy. I do use bottled spring or drinking water.

nicely in the starting up, a small tank isn't a sturdy idea once you're searching for an extremely low volume of work. The smaller a tank is, the a lot less waste potential it has. meaning you may have dirty water and also nasty gravel after in undemanding words a pair of weeks. you'll likely spend maximum of time conserving it clean. As for fish, some small fish are the orange and black bumblebee bee Gobi, the blue and pink neon tetra, and different fluorescent hues of the guppy. those are all fish which will not in any respect of their existence time strengthen over 2 inches, wrestle with one yet another, or favor a lot of work. the in undemanding words chance is overfeeding. because you're leaning in the route of a small tank, any left over foodstuff might want to reason the unfavourable chemical compounds like ammonia and nitrate at the same time as also making the water cloudy or murky. sturdy success

the Betta is an anabantid, meaning that it can breath air. therefore the water quality does not have to be the best. these fish can survive and thrive in a goldfish bowl, a sprig of 'lucky' bamboo or other plants, will help to keep the water quality better. Tulips are not recommended from personal experience. plants are not necessary though. A 20% water change weekly is recommended, though two weeks will be tolerated by most Betta's. try not to overfeed, this will just make the water quality deteriorate faster. there also are sold pond-weed that can tolerate the unheated conditions of a Betta bowl.

hope this helps. good luck.

Hello,

If the stones aren't attached to the bottom of your aquarium, then net the betta, place it in other small container (1 quart or even 1 pint will suffice for temporary holding place) --> wash some of the stones (don't wash all stones...leave some beneficial bacteria)
then place the fish back. Don't forget to use dechlorinated water.

For the water to be clean...feed small amount of food that consumed in 5 mins, 1-2x/ day. And frequent water change.
I used to change my betta water every other day. Aged tap water, mineral water, all fine except distilled water.

Hope that helps.

Get a bigger tank but if you want to clean this one I have the perfect thing. I used to have a fish and if you go to petsmart there is this suction thing that you can buy that sucks dirty water out and you can put clean water in.

How big is the tank. please tell me it's not those 1 gallon bowls cause that's torture. Get areal tank. You should also get a filter, heater, and some betta food(of course) :) Change the water once or twice every week by cleaning out 10% of the water. scrubbing the walls for algae and using unchlorinated water.

you should only take 25% of water out,'cause if you take too much out your betta will go in shock and die.

get stones that absorb the crap of the fish and don't over feed your Betta it will make your tank dirtier faster and don't clean it too often they like it alittle dirty.
