Why in America are athletes worshipped over doctors and teachers?

Why do these idiots get paid millions for slamming a ball into a net or running around in tight pants tackling each other?

Why do they get millions while doctors, scientists, and other people who make society better don't get acknowledged as much?

America has poor values

Doctors don't need to be worshipped. They make a lot of money already. And hospital doctors are shady characters once you learn what goes on behind the scenes.

It isn't that Americans worship athletes. It's that the media holds celebrities and athletes on a pedestal, and some Americans fall for it.

Others do not. I'm one of them. But I do enjoy watching movies and sports. It's just that I don't worship anyone.

I only worship God- neither athletes nor doctors nor teachers. All people are worthwhile in our society. We would certainly have a difficult time without teachers or doctors. I am sure that some teachers and doctors enjoy some sports-just like everyone else. What about firefighters-policemen and police women-nurses-technicians-emergency service-cooks-housewives-Just ordinary people. Should not everyone be important????????????? U.S.A.

Because only a handful of people can do that job. There are tens of thousands of doctors and hundreds of thousands of teachers. No one would buy a $26 shirt with Mrs. Thompson's picture on it, but they will if it's Shaq's. Therefore, athletes are more valuable.

And, BTW, it's not an American issue. Soccer players are gods in almost every Euro country (and throughout Latin America too). I guess most countries have poor values, huh?
