I understand the best time to travel while pregnant is during your second trimester. In fact, What to Expect When You're Expecting recommends it. We had been thinking of a trip to Panama before we found out we were pregnant, do you think that going to Panama will still be safe, or should we keep our vacation within the country?

Some airlines won't fly you if you're over six months, so check with the carrier first.

If your pregnancy is normal, your doctor says it's okay, you take good care of yourself while you are away and provided the place you are travelling to is safe, then you should be fine to travel in the second trimester.

Just make sure about the dates/weeks your airline will fly you and whether you need medical certification to board the aircraft.

Also check with your travel insurer as to whether you are covered for any medical treatment you may need due to your pregnancy while you are away, or what coverage you can expect if you have an accident or a medical emergency not actually related to your pregnancy.

I am not sure about the medical facilities in Panama are like - check with your doctor.

Best of luck.

I didn't want to travel outside the STATE when I was pregnant...Of course, I was grouchy and miserable. BUT every pregnancy is different. You need to consult your doctor on this one. I don't recommend it but then again, I'm paranoid about pregnancy and I'm always thinking something will go wrong. If you are having a normal pregnancy with no complications or anything, I don't see why not. You will definately need to consult your doctor about shots and whatnot before going to Panama and have a plan in case something does happen to go wrong. I'd rather be prepared and have nothing go wrong than unprepared and panic when something does. Good luck

NO!!! Don't go outside the country. It is true that the second trimester is the best for travel, but not outside the country. You never know what kinds of diseases you can pick up there. And you don't want to have to deal with that while you are pregnant. It's better to find a place to go inside the states until you have the baby. Sorry. If you are really wondering about it, ask your doctor. They may say it's fine, but I wouldn't recommend going.

It depends on how safe your pregnancy is. 'Cause my aunt thought it was safe for her to travel, and her doctor said yes and all, but she still had a miscarriage even though she was really careful with her movements and stuff. You can never predict what will happen so maybe you should just postpone your trip.
