lol i just read the last posr, and I used to do freelance photoshop work for photography studios in high school and right after. Dont let anybody tell you that they are "attainable" looks. Id give a generous estimate that out of every 1,000 or so photos Id come across, Id find maybe one that couldnt use some touching, and that would be because that person is a really good makeup artist.

I think the media has alot to do with shaping what ppl think.
A bit of cuddly fat is nice, but I dont like heavily overweight. I know there are differnt reasons some people are excessivley overweight. But alot of folk just get that way by eating too much bad food and not doing enough/any exercise. I have been good friends with very fat people and I know thay have alot of associated health problems. They cant go out and do the same kind of things as everyone else. ie; no bike riding, no walking to the shops, needing 2 seats on a plane, etc.
Those who are particulary bad drain health providers time and money by needing different treatments.
I choose to keep myself fit (enough) and healthy, because I love life. So I do resent those who dont make an effort but exspect sympathy for their condition.
I`m not sure by how big you mean 'bigger' people, but i`ve given you my honest point of view - (dont hate me for it!)

I agree it is immature and it is unfair. I think it is really easy to make snap judgments based on appearance and with a lot of those, we make the assumption that the person is out of control, or that they are lazy, or that they don't want to be healthy. We can be judgmental about people being too skinny...or being smelly or dirty or having bad teeth just as easily as people being too large...you could go on all day...too much makeup is a biggie for me. I always assume when I see a person with caked on makeup that they have a horrible self-esteem. But FAT is our handiest label isn't it?
I wish our standards were different re: healthy weight. They still call Oprah fat and she looks awesome!

What do people have against people who wear glasses, people who are sticks or people who have acne? They're mean and it will never end. Society has this vision of a perfect america, but it will never happen. The media and such are putting a certain image out there that they think everyone is suppose to look like, but it will never happen. So when people see someone who doesn't fit that certain image, they feel it is necessary to point it out. Don't let them bother you, just try to ignore it.

It's because our tax dollars subsidize them by paying for their medical bills (because you know damn well the majority of them don't pay for them) when they have to go to the ER, or a regular doctor, for any of the many medical problems that result from being fat such as congestive heart failure, heart attack, diabetes, etc. Plus if someone can't even take care of themselves or have self-respect, clearly they won't have respect for anyone else. And furthermore, 9 out of every 10 fat people I meet have a really shitty attitude.
So really, it's a combination of all those factors. Until fat people live to be 90 years old on average, make doctors' jaws hit the floor in shock at how healthy they are, and you see them modeling for Victoria's Secrets, obviously being overweight probably isn't going to improve your lot in life.

when people look at a fatty, they see everything they never wanna be. photo shop doesnt make the very real bodies u see in a magazine. hard work, determination, and extreme self control do. They are real and attainable physiques.

Some people are repulsed by obesity. Whether the problem is a gland, laziness or an emotional crutch. Some people don't like to see it. Especially at the water park.

Because the only thing a lot of people have to rely on is the media. The media tells us we have to be a certain weight to be more attractive. My mom is like that 5'5" 115 pounds, and it's gross and unhealthy to be my weight 5'6" 135, which is healthy. My men have to be big. If I put my arms around him and I can put my arms ALL the way around him, he's got to go. The meatier the better, to me anyway.

i dont mind "big" people, but i dont like seeing obese people. i just wish they were healthier because they would probably have a better, longer life and be able to run up some stairs without getting winded. also when i see really fat people i just think how gross they are for all the food or lazy activities they partake in like driving one block to the store. and i think of all the starving people in the world while here this person eating way too much endangering their health. i know alot of people cant help their weight, but alot can.

i think its mostly media. today thin women are viewed to be beautiful....but back in medieval times thin women were considered unattractive and poor but women with some meat on them were considered beautiful and wealthy. and esp in todays society the thinner you are the better...like Marilin Monroe was like a size 8 or something...but now (in the fashion world esp) a size 1 or 0 is THE BEST.
