I live with an alcoholic I just adore... I don't want to live with an alcoholic anymore. But I love him... I can't help it. I'm an alcoholic myself and I haven't had a drink in two years. He does not make me feel like drinking at all. But sometimes he pisses me right off! I forgive easily... I love him!!!

Anyone else living the same kind of situation? Tell me I'm not the only one!

Oh... please don't tell me thing like: leave him, you're hurting yourself, blah blah... already heard enough of that!

Okay... this is going to sound like denial, but it's not. I am not unhappy, trust me! My living situation is not sad at all! I don't want to live with him anymore because people keep telling me things like: "it's sad"!!! I wanted to know if I was the only one in my situation......

If all you want to know is if anyone else has been in this situation, I'd speculate you know already. Your "I don't want to live with an alcoholic anymore" really stands out. & then you say: "But I love him." I wouldn't dream of suggesting you leave him or not; you do, however, seem a bit contradictory? I wonder what it is that you REALLY want from this question. Ask yourself.

My father was and is still an alcholic. My mother has never attempted to leave him, although there were times where I wish she had. She regrets ever marrying him, even though she cares about what happens to him. Its not fun to live with an alcoholic. I dont know what your situation is like, but if you can tolerate it and are happy, I hope you are 20 yrs from now. It can get worst, if he doesn't get some help. my father is from an old country and does not understand what AA is and doesn't think he needs help. But he does and as he has gotten much older, it has catched up with him health wise and looking back seeing all the turmoil he caused in our lives because of his addiction. I hope that if you want to stay with him, he really should get help.

Best Wishes.

No you're not the only one. And only you know whether you should be there right now or not. You know your heart.

Anyone who has lived with an alcoholic knows that we can't change them. We can only keep ourselves healthy and sane. For me, coping with living with an alcoholic involved the "TranquilityAFG" yahoo group (a 12-step alanon group). It kept me focused on my health and emotional well-being.

Take care!

Well first of all let me say congulations on changing your life. My husband use to drink a lot and I know what you are going through. But let me say that there is more to life than living with a person like this. If he really wanted to change I feel like he could. You did. We can tell you that you need to leave which you do but the only one that can make this choice is you. But stop and think about it life is to short to have to put up with this. THINK ABOUT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

~I'm sure you're not the only one, and it's very sad, especially if children are involved. I used to live with an alcoholic and I never will again.
It is your decision, whether you would be happier with or without him.~

You've already answered your own question. You really don't
want to do anything about it or you already would have done it. You say you don't want to live with an alcoholic anymore, then why are you? He's living with one. You both need help. You ask a question, then try to tell people how to answer it.
