Aww! Your hardly old, you can bare babies for another 10 years! I am younger, not pregnant, but am overweight. I have 18 month old twins, and a 5 month old, so no more pregnancy for a little bit for me! I just wanted to say good luck!

I really sympathise, Ive just had my 3rd son and suffered pre-eclampsia with all three and gestational diabetes with my 3rd, I do have essential hypertension so pre-eclampsia was always going to be a problem, if you are otherwise fit and healthy there may be a chance you wont get it again, although you will be classed as a high risk, the good thing is this time you will be very closely monitored, my first son was born at 32 weeks, my second at 34 and my 3rd at 35 all by c-section, each pregnancy I lasted a bit longer and was told by my consultant this was usual. The best thing you can do is keep yourself healthy through your diet, be a bit careful with excercise if your blood pressure starts to be erratic, get as much rest as you can and watch for all the usual signs (swelling of your feet, hands and face, flashing lights, severe headaches), dont be afraid to pester your midwife or doctor if you feel unwell in the slightest. I bought a digital blood pressure monitor which was invaluable, I was told the diabetes usually doesnt show until about 28 weeks but I would imagine they will check you every visit, I hope it all goes well for you and with any luck you will have an enjoyable simple pregnancy this time, good luck

Hi ya. I am 14 weeks pregnant with my second child and more overweight than I was first time round!! and I have just been told that I will be going on to insulin in the next week or so. Because I got gestational diabetes in my first pregnancy they have been monitoring me these past couple of weeks and even though by blood sugars arent that high, they think its best I get on the insulin sooner rather than later. Really disappointed, having to go through all this hassle so early on puts me off having anymore!! I am trying to eat more healthy but do lapse!! someone mentioned about checking out with midwife first before using exercie bike?,..any reason for that?

Hi, im young and overweight. Im at 14 weeks and had gestational diabetes with my first son. That was my fault cause i put on too much weight too quickly. I only had diet controlled diabetes so not sure if u had the same or were insulin dependant.
This time i have not put on a kilo. Im eating as if i have gestational diabetes. Excluding some days when i eat naughty things!!
I do worry that im going to have it again. I was told you are 70% more likly to have it again.
As long as you look after yourself and do everything you can, then you should be fine. If you get it again, at least you know you tried.
With the exercise bike, ask you doc first. I was advised to do walking and aqua arobics and not to use the bike. Please check before you buy one just in case.
Good luck
Carla

I had my first at 32 and my second and third at 36 (twins). I am overweight but didn't have the health problems you had in your pregnancy. I am sure that given your history, the hospital will monitor you more closely and really look after you. You may find that you don't put on as much weight this time round too cause you have another child to run round after. I only put one and a half stone on with the twins (which is less than with my first daughter)
I am sure the midwives and doctors will take care of you so try not to worry too much (easier said than done, I know)
congratulations and good luck

i was 18 stone and 35 years old i was fine my baby was fine too if you have any worries why don't you just talk to the midwife, I'm sure she could help you. i had 2 normal birThs and the last 2 i had c section, the reason why i had c section for my 4th was cause they said i had already had c section with the 3rd so i had a choice if i wanted one, all my pregs went fine being overweight.I think the hospital will kept an eye on you as you have had Prue-clampsia before but that's only routine sum of my mates had that and they wasnt that big, try not to worry too much as it will just make you unhappy and a unhappy mum whilst preg is not good if you feel the need to talk just e mail me ok good luck xxxx

I am 30 (is that old enough?) overweight and pregnant. I am 12 weeks along. I am also at my highest weight EVER and am also concerned about the amount of weight I will gain and gestational diabetes. I have not had it with my other two children, but i wasn't as big then, either (although I was overweight). Were your symptoms directly related to your weight?? Now I'm worried!

I was 40 when I was carrying my last child and put on 4 stone, so you think you have problems? It would be a shame not to enjoy your pregnancy because you are worried all the time and no two pregnancies are the same so stop worrying do the best you can do and good luck.

Hi
Im 37 and 32 weeks pregnant, i was about a size 22 when i fell pregnant, i too was trying to lose weight unsuccesfully. I did have a test a couple of weeks ago for diabetes but luckily it ws just me and the baby being big!!
Dont panic too much, just look after yourself, eat right (try too!! ive had a terrible craving for donuts!) and take it easy.
