I had a friend a few years ago. We made some mistakes by saying things to each other, but I actually feel somewhat guilty about the things I said. Because of those mistakes, our friendship ended. I know he's probably over what happened, but I have always hated what I said to him. Should I contact him and apologize for my actions? I just hate knowing that I did things to end a nice relationship. I don't care if we don't become friends again, I just hate having this chip over my shoulder.

Listen, slow down, here------don't make contact just to start off by rehashing the incident---don't relive the memory or the person will get mad again. Just start off by saying that the time has gone by, you have aged and you are sorry for all the immature things that happened to everyone. Ask if he could see past it, and help get you back on track in life again---how about a lunch or dinner on me??. if he says yes, dress really nice, clean up real good, and have a nice evening out---talk about the future and what your plans are---ask what his are.--it is amazing what a few years can do to a person...concentrate on today--yesterday is gone. Good luck and SMILE---at least you tried.

I think that it's nice to apologize for past actions. Even if time heals all wounds, I think that it's a nice touch.
If your friend is unresponsive, at least for youself you have done what you could. In reality that is all you can do.

I would apologize. Life is way to short. If something was to happen to your "friend", you would always wish you had apologized. If not, you will feel guilty the rest of your life.

Do it. It will make you feel better.

And if you do not become friends again at least you know that you made it right in your mind by apologising
If you don't you will always think about it an think WHAT IF etc

yes, it's always good to apologize. Who knows? He could be feeling the same way. If you let him know you're sorry and tell him you're willing to be friends, he should be your friend again. if not, he was never your friend in the first place.

Why dont you just email or call casually, dont mention the incident too soon, just see if he wants to talk to talk to you.
