The United States Computer Emergency Readiness Team recommends you not use Internet Explorer:
"There are a number of significant vulnerabilities in technologies related to the IE domain/zone...It is possible to reduce exposure to these vulnerabilities by using a different web browser"

Try the free Firefox

Don't. As much as you may hate IE7, IE6 is really bad -- it will open up your computer to viruses and spyware and phishing attacks. Try some of the other free browsers out there -- go to http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/ to download Firefox, and see if you like that. If not, there's others.

If you have XP and IE7. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall IE7. This will take you back to IE6.
If you have Vista, I doubt you can uninstall IE7 and install IE6.
----------------------------
For XP:
Most problems with IE7 stem from either Add-ons that cause problems or corrupted files in IE7.
Run Internet Explorer with no add-ons installed
Start - All Programs -Accessories -Systems Tools - Click on “Run Internet Explorer (no add-ons)” If IE runs ok you have one or more bad add-ons.
In IE tools - Programs - Click on “Manage Add-ons”. Disable all add-ons then restart. Enable one add-on and restart. If ok enable another ad-on. Repeat until you find the add-on(s) that are causing the problem.
If this does not work you may need to reinstall IE7, uninstall IE7 with Ad/Remove programs. This will take you back to IE6.
Run Windows Live OneCare “Full Service Scan” http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/default.htm
Run: Malicious Software Removal Tool (run “full scan”)

Reboot.
Reinstall IE7

If I were you I would skip on hacker/cracker prone IE6 and get Firefox. Also, IE6 can be rather difficult to un-install, as well. It is at least when it ships with Windows.

Microsoft does not like people going to older versions of software so its gonna be difficult getting it out.
Try another browser like firefox http://securitynewsfromthenet.blogspot.com/
or opera http://www.opera.com/download/

Try Microsoft.com or Download.com. If you can't find it there, then try to put it on a disk from a person who does have IE6.
