It is similar to gas bubbles, yet completely different.
If you have had gas before you will definitely be able to tell the difference

God Bless You Brandie!

I heard the butterfly thing too. And it did kind of feel like that. But it also felt like a gas bubble moving across my tummy. Also I heard it was at about 20 weeks but for me it was more like 22 or 23 weeks before I could figure it out. Soon when it feels like the baby is trying to kick her way out you will laugh about worrying about it.
The BEST is yet to come. (A little secret.) There is a point during delivery--the part when you are pushing and can't wait to see the baby. YOU ABSOLUTELY LOSE YOURSELF. And then you get to see that little face for the first time.
THAT is why those annoying ladies come up and rub your tummy in the grocery store. We all would love to have that feeling again.

It is kind of hard to explain, but you just know the difference. When a baby kicks, it feels like something sliding along the inside of your skin, much different than gas bubbles or anything else. When you feel it with your hand, most times you can feel something very hard sliding under the skin when they kick. My son use to kick so hard you could just look at me and see my stomach jump. It is a wonderful feeling. The miracle of birth will always amaze me. God can do wonders.

I know of alot of mums to be who can't tell the difference until it is a prominent kick or punch here and there. When I first felt the baby move it felt like flutters, but this is my 2nd pregnancy, whereas with my first I had no idea till I was about 20 weeks pregnant.

To me, the first time feels like little muscle twitches, or little bumps, kind of like someone is lightly poking me inside. It's hard to say what it will feel like for you. Each woman is different, and they feel their babies at different times. Most women don't even feel it until after the 16th week of pregnancy, and that's pretty early too.

Its hard to describe, but when I first felt my baby move - it felt like a baby moving in my stomach. I just knew it was her and not gas.
