I think to just be yourself, whether in dating or your daily interactions means to hold fast to your own personal core principles, morals, values. Everything esle is changable, or non essetial in defining being yourself; even personality changes as we grow older, what we found humorus two years ago may not be so today, etc. What do you guys think?

That is true. You may change as you grow older, but your core self doesn't. Some people are bubbly by nature. It would seem odd if they changed themselves otherwise. You would know something was wrong. Some people change their beliefs and personalities for someone or something else which is wrong. Because if you do this, you won't actually be changing the core of yourself, just your "mask". Just the outside. You should only change yourself for YOU, YOURSELF!If you change yourself for you, then you are changing your core self. I think that "Just be yourself" pertains to who YOU are at this particular phase in your life.

This can be confusing as just being yourself can sometimes offend others. What can seem as normal behavior to one person can be outrageous and offensive to another. That is why as we grow older, we hopefully mature in our actions.

i agree we mature as we get older and become adults. I think in order to be yourself you need to not care about what others think so much and just do your own thing. Live your life how you'd wanna and always be true to yourself.

It took me a long time to figure out what that meant. I was always trying to be what I wasn't - a hot shot, a larger than life success. And there's nothing wrong with striving, but I was being fake, not being myself at all.

well in simple terms, the phrase "just be yourself" means to do what you normally do and act how you normally act. So how you normally act is usually how you act to your family :D

yeah i agree with you. to "just be yourself" is to do what you want to do, not to follow other people's opinions about what is "cool"
