Here is the criteria:

- I would like somewhere warm, but my husband likes the snow. Need somewhere thats a compromise.
- Low cost of living is important. Houses should be affordable.
- Jobs, jobs, jobs! Need to be able to find work. I am going to school for Gerontology (study of aging) and Health & Human Services. My husband would like to work in the computer field.

What is the best state (and city if you want to narrow it down) and why? Thanks for your help!

I would like to invite you to Western Washington. Though we do have quite a bit of rain, we are within striking distance of snow, skiing, hiking, kayaking, fishing. Also, just over the mountain pass is Eastern Washington with some very fine hot and dry weather. So it would suit both you and your husband with just a little bit of travel. We rarely get down to freezing, and I enjoy our mild winters. If you do not try for Seattle, living is affordable. Our schools and universities are top notch.
For the computer field we have Microsoft, Nintendo, Intel, and then some! Plus we all promise to continue to age so that you can study us!
We have jobs in the fields you mentioned!
We have Seahawks, we have Mariner's. Do we still have the Sonics?
We gave birth to Starbucks, Amazon.com.
I think the Olympia area is centrally located and affordable.
We also have an excellent health care system.
We're cool, we're friendly. Come to the Evergreen State, where the State mascot is a banana slug. LOL

I also think Washington State or Oregon would work well, I live in Vancouver, WA just over the river from Portland, Vancouver is cheap has a pretty nice summer but is also close to mt hood for skiing and has a large computer industry need with cheap housing and no income tax. I also think Portland St might have a good health program for your degree.

PA, it has cheap homes. Lots of jobs because you are near Jersey, New York, Ohio, Maryland. You aren't too far from major cities, New York, Philly, Baltimore, DC, Pittsburgh. Because you are near those cities there are many jobs. PA has great schools. You get snow during the winter and it is warm during the summer. There is always something to do in PA too, because you are near so many historical places and cities.

I am not from PA so I am not one to go on about how my home state is so great. I grew up in Maryland and went to college in Maine (love Maine it has many things, but it is cold and it is hard to find jobs there), however I grew up right on the border of PA and my mother was born and raised in Gettysburg.

The suburbs of Charlotte, NC would be a good compromise.
The weather is great and the mountains are close enough to visit on a regular basis (snow in winter).
