how do i put images in a text area

Make sure that the image that you are using actually exists. It must be in the same folder as the page you are putting the code in. For example, if you have a folder called "testwebsite" and you put code for this image on the page "dogs.html" the image.jpg must be in that folder as well.

If it is not, you will have to specify the path through the different folders so it can locate the picture and display it.

I don't think you can but images in a text area. Maybe a table.

You can't put images "in" a text area; they can only contain text. If you want to put a background image, that works like anything else:
