They were accused feeding this child salt. But some believe it is virtually impossible for a person to die from excess salt unless they have a condition preventing the expulsion of excess salt. If a person drinks too much salt water, they will usually throw it up (like in the movie "Casino Royal") But some people lack the ability to dispose of even normal amounts of salt. Potato chips are poisonous to these people! It appears the little boy had this condition.

But did you know salt can actually be used to induce vomiting? (Like in the movie "Casino Royal") For this reason, many consider it impossible to be fatally poisoned with salt. The body rejects the salt & a person throws up.

If a person dies of too much sodium, it is likely because his body has difficulty disposing of normal levels of salt - much like a diabetic is with sugar. In fact it is called "Diabetes Insepidis."
