I am in a play set in the early 70s (1972 to be exact). I wanted to know if there was a website I could go to see images of hairstyles worn by black women in the 1970s. I tried googling and I wasn't very successful. The director gave me 2 pictures but I wanted more options. Please help.

I was looking at my old photo album and it's really funny because in the early 70s every women in the pictures has a beehive hair do except me because I was only 18 and 19 so I looked more hippyish. The other women in the pictures were my Mom,sister and sister in law, they were in there late 20s and early 30s,my Mom would have been about 50.So hairstyles also depended on how old you were back then.

Oh, that was probably the start of Natural or Afro

The 60s was STRAIGHT and WHITE

Diana Ross

I know ALL the MEN were "Afro"

Braides didn't come until "The Color Purple" which was the 80s

So it was probably FRIZ

Julia was a hold over from the 60s She's not a good role model

Wow, Black girls in the 70s

I don't recall ANYTHING specific

Contact Kaya Casper at Naturally You and see if she has anything.
