I used to know people who were so shallow that they actually went low enough to make fun of me for not dressing the way they did (as they wore brand names, and I don't because I can't afford to do so.)

How do YOU feel about brand name clothing, cars, money, etc?

I try to find the TRUE value of material things around me. That is; how well they can work toward my happiness and that of everyone around me; whoever is 'using' that thing the most. And if i loose or break it... oh well. More fun fixing or finding another one.

And most often, here/now, this happiness and meaning will reveal itself to lie in logic... a hidden path of mind-numbing depth that one could spend a lifetime decrypting. OR could simply use their sense of 'now' to evaluate attributes such as 'popular fashion' (design, colors, clothes), or 'performance/comfort of machines' (cars, recliners, stereos ...).
How well these things function toward ones happiness is the only value they can possibly hold.

As for the true value or 'popular perception' of money; it is a very different subject that lies much deeper than the surface of material things. You see.... the art on a one dollar bill is pretty cool... but its only worth a dollar!!! They're usually pretty dispensable to me. =)

I could not care less about brand names, cars, etc. My husband sometime points out expensive sports cars, and I think they're pretty ugly most of the time. I don't see the difference between high end clothes and the ones I wear. I think people who do care about these things miss out on what is truly important in life, and I feel sorry for them.

I have no problem with people wanting material things. I do have a problem with spending 500 bucks for some jeans when you can go to target and get the same jeans for 20 bucks. Same jeans exactly, just a different name, but they were probably made in the same factory by the same 9 year old Guatemalan girl. You pay for the name. It's just stupid.

there is nothing wrong with having nice things but there comes a point when u have to put that aside and focus on more important things. i dont care about brand names i will pay $5 for a shirt as long as i think its cute. i cant stand when people are all about money and material things it shows they have so sense what is really important in life. it makes me kinda sick actually.

Wearing stuff like Prada, Armani displays your TASTE ---despite the elite price tags----just drop the 'animal -based 'couture----they are damn CRUEL to just be worn! Expensive cars are TOO pricey----but there are elegant Bentleys better than Benzs and Volvos too! Money? Some ( like the late Anna Nicole Smith ---rest her soul) had too much but had to pay a HUGE price ---others like Bill Gates and his wife have shown the world what you can REALLY do with excess dough----help the poor achieve their goals and live a better life!!!

All you need is a disaster to teach you what is really important.
When you have no clothes to wear, you don't care what brand the clothes are that are being offered to you.
When you see your house in tatters, all you really want is pictures of your family.
Life lessons teach you the true value of "things".

I could live on a deserted island ...with bare essentials.
Monitary/material items hold very little value to me.
I hate lables...and I would'nt waste money on a frivolous car, I guess I'm just practical.
My mama is extremely "high Si"...and it drives me crazy.

well i like materials.. coz they are a kind of luxury's in our lives now a days... and i love to live in luxury... but i really dont care wht otherz wear or do...
if i want to wear a brand... it is just coz i like that brand.. or either it looks good on me... or i feel comfortable in it... i will never wear that just to show off...
